The Fall Army Worm is no more a threat in the Upper West Region

The WA municipal department of agric has assured farmers in the region and municipality that they are ready to assist the with chemicals to combat the fall army worm.
The fall army worm is a tropical pest of crops that feed on the leaves of crops such as maize, millet, sorghum and other cereals which mostly occurs in June.



According to Mr Gaaten Baligi, an officer at the WA municipality agric department speaking to progress news indicated that, report reaching them in recent days from farmers in the municipality is that, the fall army worms have invaded their farms and have destroyed most of their crops which is a great lost to them.
He continued that, they are ready to assist these farmers whose farm been invaded by these pest with free chemicals to control the pest.

He also urged all farmers to quickly report to their district agric officers whenever they notices these pests have started feeding on their crops to avoid spreading
