PHOTOS; THE LAST DAY CELEBRATION OF THIS YEAR'S DUMBA FESTIVAL

Dumba festival which means the birth and naming ceremony of the Holy Prophet. This festival is celebrated  in Upper West Region (Wa) by the Chiefs and people in of the Wala Paramountcy. It serves as an occasion to unite the people of the area, renew their commitment to Islam and commemorate the birthday of the Prophet Mohammed.Interestingly, the Wa Na is believed to prolong his life if he successfully jumps over a cow. The celebrating of this Dumba festival started around 1620 and 1625 under the leadership of Na Soalia.
During this festival, all the villages under the jurisdictions of the Region come and stay together for seven(7) days and celebrate the festival.
This years own was held from Monday 12th December,2016 to Sunday 19 December,2016 at the WA Nas' compound with the theme Peace and Unity. Na Pulpo, the 4th king the gates of Wa advice his people to live together as one unit and peacefully to foster development in the region. He also advice the youth of the region to stay away from immoral behaviors such as arm robbery, drug abuse and other social vices and he encouraged them to focus on education and worked hard for the development of the region.
The four gates who always joined together and celebrate the festival, that is Yige gate, which constitutes Duno Kpong the first gate and the first settlers among the royal family, Subum which means the "The Fire of a Wizard", Fanci Naa Jara and the Pulpo Jaa the third Pulpos' house. They cam last but they are the most senior according to their culture.
Naa Jara as the second gate, Napaaha as the third gate and Jeyoher as the fourth gate.
This four royal families exhibit in a unity dance which Rush Energy Drink made it competitive. After the unity dance, Yige which is the current Na's royal family was crown the first winner, followed by Naa Jara as the second winner, Jeyoher as third and Napaaha as the fourth run up.
This four gates went home with a surprise package from Rush Energy Drink.


The festival was continue with The Ghana Wins Peace Concept aimed at ensuring violence free after the elections. Fancy Gadam, the brand ambassador for Rasta Malt graced the occasion with his energetic stage performance. He was not the only artiste to grace the occasion but also artiste like Young Gally one of the talented Wala artiste,  Star Boy and others also performed live.
