President John Mahama will tomorrow turn the valves of the John Evans Atta Mills FPSO to mark commercial production of oil in Ghana's second oil reserve. The Tweneboa, Enyera and Ntomme (TEN) Oilfield on which the Atta Mills FPSO sits is expected to produce between 20,000-23,000 barrels of oil per day. According to a Consultant with the Energy Ministry, Edward Bawa, production is expected to increase to about 50,000 barrels of oil per day. There are just 10 start up wells currently being drilled with the other wells yet to be drilled as a result of the ongoing border litigation with the Ivory Coast. The new find will add to the approximately 80,000 barrels of oil per day being produced by the Jubilee fields. Despite the oil find in commercial quantities, residents in the Western Region say they are not amused. Some of them told Joy Business' George Wiafe they are yet to benefit from the commercial production of oil in the area. If anything, the cost of living has rather become unbearable. The residents said they cannot make ends meet as a result of the high cost of living imposed by the oil find. Edward Bawa agreed with the concerns of the residents. He told Joy News the "sentiments of the residents are largely true because prices have gone up." He said there is the need for all the residents to manage their expectations, adding, the oil find will not change the lives of the people over night. Bawa added it will take some time for the people to see the full benefits of the oil exploration. Whilst the residents are grieving, the Multi-nationals in the Western Region are rejoicing over the second oil find. Representatives of the various multi-nationals are looking forward to exporting the barrels of oil to make more money. These companies are expected to pay more taxes to the government of Ghana, Wiafe indicated.

Award-wining music producer, singer and songwriter, Richie Mensah says neither his artiste, MzVee nor himself have time to beef unimportant artistes.
Speaking in response to the current buzz that dancehall artiste Kaakie released diss tracks aimed at MzVee, the ‘Make I Shine’ singer’s manager says he doesn’t see the value in taking time to respond to such matters.
He told Joy News in an interview that, “We are professional. We are business-minded people...I can’t imagine wasting time mentioning another artiste’s name and concentrating on their career.”
The Lynx Entertainment boss asserted that they don’t have time to spare on feuds unless the artist were the likes of Rihanna; so big that engaging them in a beef would boost MzVee’s image.
“We can’t imagine wasting our time on another artiste. It’s not like Kaakie is high up there that we would focus our energy and studio time on. If she were to be at that level like Rihanna, we would have gone to the studio quick-quick to record a song for her. We would have even done that back-to-back,” he added.
Richie does, however, appreciate the publicity of rumours that diss songs are being aimed at his artiste.
Although he believes such time would be better spent shooting music videos or releasing good songs, he expressed gratitude to artists who have allegedly made it a point to inadvertently publicize MzVee, born Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda.
“Maybe we should add them to our PR team,” he jokes, adding that the publicity is not bad at all.
