Armed Robber’s Family Questions Conduct Of Police

From Richard Owusu-Akyaw, Kumasi
The family of one of the two slain armed robbers in Kumasi is questioning how the police could have killed their relative, since he was arrested at home and handcuffed.
They have expressed displeasure about the conduct of the police, lamenting that the police should have arrested and arraigned him before court and not to shoot and kill him, adding that he could have been reformed in the cooler.
Speaking on Kumasi-based FOX FM morning show, Wofa Boateng, an uncle of Kwadwo Asare, also known as 'Lumba', who was killed by the police in a shoot-out at Asafo Cement in Kumasi, said much as he admits that his nephew was in bad company, the police acted unprofessionally when they shot and killed Lumba, after arresting and handcuffing him to lead them to arrest Emmanuel Nyamekye, nicknamed '50 Cent'.
Wofa Boateng told the host, Akwasi Boateng, the family was surprised about the news of the death of Lumba, who is said to have attempted to escape while in handcuffs.
Another worried relative, Wofa Kwadwo explained that his brother was killed at a time he was assisting the police to trail '50 Cent' who engaged the police in a gun battle.
Wofa Kwadwo suggested that it would have been prudent for the police to keep Lumba in their custody to enable them launch further investigations into the  robbery and said killing him could deprived the police of a lot of vital security intelligence.
